Empire: Total War (PC) can overawe and incite passion at the same time with the amount of game play there exists to unearth. The game comes from a long line strategy based games wherein you battle in the historical times of the British Empire for independence. This is one of the most ambitious Total War game yet, even if it has some flaws in design.
The game encompasses a large part of history and the real time war play will keep you hooked on for a long time. The grand campaign, where you base most of your battles is carried out in the 18th Century lets you choose from a number of empires to play from. You must consider many factors while the campaigns rages, especially the Technology Tree. Apart from military, you must make political conquests as well while going on tasks involving assassinations, crippling economies and squashing rebellions. The AI are not very intelligent but make for amazing battle victims. You can play the battles out in real time with the most spectacular visual effects of water and detailed ships. The game play becomes more difficult when you play against real people and only adds to the adrenaline rush.
The game wears on for many, many hours and will keep strategy game enthusiasts glued to their computer screens. The package is well made with nothing to really complain about. From the real time skirmishes to online battles and matching wits with your friends, the game promises entertainment over and over again.
